In San Francisco's Mission District the 44% of households with an "essential worker" made up 99% of those who tested positive for Covid antibodies.

The other 56% of residents were primarily working from home for nearby software companies, and these households made up 1% of those testing positive for the virus.

In Los Angeles County viral spread is far more strongly related to low incomes than to living with an "essential worker".

Those working 'off the books' didn't qualify for unemployment so continued working where the could, like residential construction, and their home communities have taken a hit. - latimes.com
