To clarify: Agreed. Veracity as a principle, no. It's impossible to disprove anything. Literally. For example, how do you disprove one race is allegedly better or worse than another? Yet people often make that argument. But you have to draw the line if such talk is apparently being used to demonize, incite violence, or in the case of WWII, even worse. This is why I joke that in my venn diagram of life, context is the outermost circle that encompasses everything. Principles, such as veracity, are therefore entirely enclosed within.

Don't get me wrong. I think having principles is hugely important. I consider myself as big an advocate for the principle of free speech as anyone. But it drives me up a wall when I hear good friends rationalize what amounts to the sort of propaganda that has led to wars with excuses such as "Well, I would be a hypocrite if... so I have no choice." No, you do have a choice. And if you considered context over principle, you wouldn't be a hypocrite."

Anyhow, I think it safe to say that one interesting aspect of being a message board guy for so long is that I realize I think differently than most people. I've spent many years trying to figure out why and how to deal with it. It's a wonder no mod has seen fit to affix disclaimers to all the stuff I write lol.
