The Shed or An actual shed
When I write posts like this I am not even sure I want people to read them. But I want to give any readers a little background on where any message might be crafted for the sake of hardening any accurate pairs and dissolving or leaching those that are not accurate. I am earnest in the belief that we are eternal and take the implications of that scientifically. It inspires me to know that this life might be one I crafted for a specific moment and that each and every moment could potentially be that moment. Many of you might remember my dog Honey, now lying comfortably in Pet Heaven. Not a made up Pet Heaven but an actual Pet Heaven Memorial Garden. Now my beloved Anna is there as well, waiting for her headstone. She died in the winter and I crafted a wooden box, she was buried in the spring. I have two dogs today, littermates, Finnegan and Sweetie Pie. We took them in for a few weeks when they were just wee babes of 35 days, they have been with us ever since. They both have medical conditions, Finn has epilepsy and Sweetie has Addison's Disease. They are day and night, Finn is golden, Sweetie is black with a lab blaze, they are big dogs, 110 and 70 lbs. The three of us have a kennel we share. The kennel is basically a big tee shape about 700 square feet. It contains two structures, a doghouse that has two doors and a covered porch, (about 24 square feet) and the shed. The shed started out as a small sagging 80 sq ft cedar shed in the corner of the yard for holding the storm windows. That was repaired. It was moved to a different corner of the yard. A leanto was added for bikes. The wall between the lean-to was removed making the shed about 140 sq ft. When I replaced the back door of the house I used the old door for the shed. I ran a extension cord to outside plug to power switches and plugs in the shed. I insulated and added a space heater. I replaced the original extension cord with a conduit and a super heavy duty cord so the shed can still be unplugged. For tax purposes it really is just an unelectrified shed. I added coax for TV and a wifi mesh hub. I added a dog door and the dogs have about 30 sq ft of the shed sectioned off with a set of horizontal plywoods rails. When we added central A/C to the house I used the old window A/C unit in the shed. The dogs have Pyrenees coats so there is lots of dog hair. Did I mention they are big dogs, there is an incredible amount of dog detritus you know. Our entire neighborhood street is lined with Manchurian elms. Just beyond the kennel gate there is a small round teak and iron table where Rocks and I sit under the apple tree. We have a single teak chaise, bought for the Gramma's when they were able to be here. Our tree has two types of apples, an early summer sweet apple and a mid fall hard apple that keeps well. I have two bird feeders I have been filling for years so the flow of bird traffic is constant under the tree. We have had at times as many as fifteen collared doves along the garage eave waiting a turn to feed under the apple tree. We have a kitchen garden for herbs. This winter we lost our thyme, that has never happened before. Oregano loves it here. I have a 1960 teachers wooden desk, I face the window which looks over the doghouse to the garden and the tree. I have two older laptops that I might be using at anytime to write posts on SI. I do not post anywhere else today except on SI. Any post is made from the shed or the kitchen table.
