The system being referred to is slavery.
Slavery was abolished over 150 years ago. Millions of white Americans died to make that happen, more than all of the wars of the 20th century combined.

These days, of course, the word "slavery" is used to describe a lot of things. Alexandria Occasional-Cortex loves talking about "wage slavery," for example.

In other words, capitalism.
