Third-degree murder, a.k.a. voluntary manslaughter, is pretty clear cut.

Second-degree murder is not. You'd have to prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that the officer really did want to kill George Floyd.

The only reason why second degree murder was included was to appease the mob.
