David,

Thanks for clarifying MCOM's role as designer and hardware builder, as well as network service provider. In my ignorance, I had assumed it would be difficult to do all these tasks efficiently.

The Richochet was actually the first modem that I ever fell in love with when a fellow HP LX-100 owner demonstrated it for me in 1994. I expected minicells to quickly appear all over the country offering ubiquitous web access at an affordable price. I still do not understand why this has not happened, although one theory I have heard is that MCOM insisted on owning the entire network rather than partnering with other companies to speed the buildout of the network.

I hope MCOM has not squandered its lead because I still believe the technology is very impressive.

Regards,
SC
