Contestants please, <<OFF TOPIC>> Gentlemen, you've put me on the spot. I had 1990, pre Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, in mind when I spun the tale. Now I'll have to go check the books to be sure. I recall that the US had a mild recession in October, 1990 and the banks were in miserable shape with RTC problems so AG opened the money faucet to stimulate the economy and let the banks recover on the healthy interest rate differential between short and long term rates. T Bills eventually dropped under 3.00%. He was worried about the economy first, and inflation second.
