What securities law did they violate? The company in their conference call was very optomistic and with the change in their accounting it does give a more "realistic" number. Should they have done this sooner? YES. Can they be sued for this? NO. There was over a 40% increase in loans from 96 to 97 and that should increase the same or more this year. The downgrades of their debts by Fitch, Moody's, S&P will affect the stock over the next 1-2 months. We will have to wait until the next two quarters are finished to determine how strong their business is. Would I recomend buying the stock at these or lower levels? NO. I will until there is better guidance from the company in the next two quarters.
