as with so many things, all is changing. yesterday, I read the article with the interview with George Steinmetz that wharfie linked to - the photos of the conical salt piles. he mentions how much the world is changing - has changed - since he began photographing it. also, he feels sad that his children will never get to see the world as he saw it when he first set out on his photographic journey. i experience that too, just in how many less insects there are around. that’s my usual subject and i have shot many thousands of photos of them over the years - but they are not so plentiful now and some species are becoming difficult to find - so much so that there are some i have not seen in several years. i suppose it is to be expected that young people photograph themselves as that is the only subject that they consider to be constant and relevant. i sometimes think of that in relation to why it is that tattoos have become so popular - and think maybe it has to do with one’s body being one of the only possessions you have, in a time when owning a house, or even a car is getting beyond the scope of what many can afford. it’s all interesting. something for an anthropologist to study.
