It's possible when this is all behind us, many Scientists, many Modelers and many Politicians and the Media become so discredited it will be much hard to fight things like Climate change in the future. What's really stood out is that incentives are massively aligned around the wrong things. Scientists need to warn of worst case scenarios to ensure their material gets funding / published and to cover their asses. Scientists who disagree are shunned. Politicians will choose the most negative predictions ( from these outlandish Scientists ) to ensure they have their asses covered & to allow them claim the greatest victory. Modelers have literally no idea about anything except code, and pull assumptions out of their arses and play with numbers to get the desired outcomes. And the media will do anything to get clicks. I wonder if we ever get a chance to see how we got this so wrong, learn from it, and move to more sensible system to help us make smart informed decisions in the future?.
