WHAT WILL HISTORY RECORD?
.........in great part, whatever the victors of a life changing event want it to record. For example, the history of warfare is written from the side of the victor and is 'tainted' accordingly; almost nobody disputes this.
After the birth of the Industrial Revolution, more & more people were able to have access to a rapidly increasing number of publications & newspapers. This afforded them the ability to obtain tremendous amounts of information in a format that the hundreds of generations prior could have never dreamed of. These were increasingly launched as a result of better & cheaper printing capabilities. Earlier generations (if they had the time, ability, or desire as they were eking out a hard living) learned of the history of world events through those relatively few individuals who were knowledgeable & educated via the writings & books of previous generations.
The media in all it's forms as it evolved, has always held the sacrosanct position of being the common man's organ of truth; indeed, the unbiased promulgator of the reality of the times within which it was reporting! Thus, in most democratic nations, it has been given a long leash and earned the appellation of 'the fourth estate'. As we within forums such as this know all too well, commencing in the latter half of the last century it has become a propaganda rag, catering to it's own special interests, For the most part, the media in all of it's forms, is the publishing arm of whichever group or position it favors----look at us right now in the USA!
If the craziness in this country and the other developed/civilized nations continues unabated, simple logic DICTATES that the history in the future will be written 'in stone' just exactly as we see truth & reality twisted & vanishing before our eyes this very day! The statues gone, the history of the nation in every area & respect reinterpreted, the universities currently teaching revisionist history and on & on ad infinitum!
History, particularly in & of this modern age, will be recorded, written & taught by the victors. The way INCREDIBLE things are developing, any odds as to who will be that victor? |
