This is a good sign in that it provides an indirect indication that semiconductor prices are stable and not being adversely effected by the devaluation of the Asian currencies and huge debts the companies have piled up. One of the debates about bailing out of hte Asian economies is that the money might be used to just bail out companies that have gone out of control by amasing rediculously large debts with the intent of taking over huge markets, such as DRAMs. The foolish plan to wage war on the semi markets has failed because of collapsed prices. The recent fear has been that S. Korean and other dram suppliers would try to export their way out of their pickle, taking advantage of the devaluation in their currencies by selling parts below MU and other suppliers. If our politicians are sane, as some of the Republicans and a few Democrats appear to be, they will make sure that the IMF bail-out doesn't just prop up the insane lending policies of the past that have placed the Asian competitors to their more financially conservative US competitors at a disadvantage.

This will have a potential indirect effect on IDT. If firming or upward movement in DRAM prices also leads to firm or up movement in SRAMS and alternatives to other IDTI, that will remove some price pressure and help earnings.
