DOJ can propose and recommend all they want. Only Congress can change it. Other than issuing opinions and press that carry no force of law, neither the DOJ nor any other executive branch has any standing whatsoever in how Section 230 is interpreted or applied since Congress didn't give them any role or standing in the matter. That's the purview of the Courts, and they have spoken often and clearly to that over the past 20+ years.

A vocal minority in Congress doesn't equate to broad bi-partisan support for a change to the law. And, from a practical perspective, if it's something Trump is touting the Democrats will automatically oppose it regardless of any possible merits.

It's great fodder for political theater for the talking heads on the boob tube and on social media (I suppose myself included). Beyond that...
