Football may no longer a high priority for Kaepernick. His skill sets have probably eroded because of the long layoff and he runs the risk of embarrassing himself. If someone signs him it will be a circus, with much unpleasantness. He probably has more influence as an iconic figure working outside the system. Plus, he has other fish to fry:
