| | | In normal times you are 100% correct, but it is my impression that we are witnessing not normal times and the COVID19 story (even that the virus and its effects are real) is a sideshow to justify the madness for no other better words.
This mass madness captured the whole world and almost every country I know off.
There is a social economic shift of unprecedented magnitude since WWII worldwide. What you posted related to the Atlanta FED statistics only re-enforce that.
I am not privy to what happened to society and economy during the industrial revolution, or the details of how the new world order was settled after WWI (obviously bad) and WWII but my sense is that we are facing a similar social and economic turmoil within a different war with very similar economic consequences.
As example Putin celebrates the victory in WWII on June 24 instead of May 9 the true date for Russia and it allies taking over Berlin, and all this for pure selfish self-promoting political reasons.
One of the main driver IMHO started and accelerated in mid 1970/80 thies with the Internet and introduction of robots then was taken over by computerized power, AI and ML (machine language) and all this within an explosive growth of the world population and mainly in the countries with population with low level of education, different heritage and little appreciation or understanding of the conduct and achievements of the more educated part of humanity.
At the same time the world population exploded exponentially without taking into account what the planet earth can sustain and support, and evidence is everywhere on land and polluted waters and oceans depleted of fish and filled with plastic waste (microplastics included).
As an example Egypt population that was dependent on the Nile for their livelihood, grew 5 times in 50 years, from around 20 million in 1970 to over 100 million today, the sources of food and water remained the same if not a little less which induces unrest and conflict, and there are many other countries that are in a similar or worst situation.
The Roman Empire was destroyed by barbarian nomads who originated mainly in what was the Soviet Union until recently, and Mongolia in search of better climate, sources of food and less harsh environments.
With the wide availability of technology that is easy to use the result has gone high-wire as there is little respect for the heritage and culture of those that enabled the technological advances, similar to the barbaric tribes overpowering the Roman Empire, by destroying the Greek, Roman, Egyptian culture and heritage of the time.
The lack of understanding of the new development that in my opinion is evolving today at a very high speed induces frustration and anger in those that were or are left behind.
On the other hand human nature did not change if we compare it to let say to 3,000 or so years ago but then things moved slowly, Cleopatra was capable to avoid a massacre of her fellow citizens by the Roman conquering army, and it took years until Marcus Antonius of Rome confronted the establishment of the Roman Empire and lost.
Today invasions of another country or major unrest spreads like fire in a windy environment, and symbolism is completely detached of the true character of the person chosen as a symbol of the said cause. The biased media and gullible politicians and major swats of the citizens fall into that trap within days, thanks to the technology as few are really able or willing to spend the time and effort to think through and analyze without being overpowered of the old raw emotions and plain propaganda bombardment by the news outlets.
To sum it up humanity fall into the trap it developed and build for thousands of years without the capability to adjust to the own technological advancements and the resulting effects on life quality and longevity. |
