John, science is not only knowledge, it is a synonym for the word knowledge. Science also, it is true, represents a community of individuals engaged in the discovery of the natural world. A TRUE scientist is a 'truth seeker'. Like the poets and artists, the scientist is engaged in discovery, not necessarily invention. An individual, in order to participate, must accept certain basic principles in practice. That any theory posited must be valid (measurable) and reliable (tests are repeatable). He then is defined as a scientist.
THEREFORE: all scientists who believe evolution is true are not true scientists, since evolution has never been validated in any respect.
These principals, if derived from the philosophy premise that is rationalism, give respectability to the same.
It is the practice of science that makes knowledge possible. Scientists are self-correcting. They are interested in discovery.
You and your fellow Ayn Randies practice selective closed-mindedness. You can be self-correcting, and I believe in your heart of hearts you desire the truth.
To quote evidence of the latter statement, here is a recent SAYING of John Galt: "The holy word is unchanging. It is written in stone."
The Bible says something similar, in other words: "Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, to day, and for ever." And, since Jesus is the Word of God, expressed in the form of a man, by substitution of Jesus Christ for holy Word, you have: The holy Word, the same yesterday, to day, and for ever.
But it is God's desire to write his word on hearts of flesh, so to speak, rather than hearts of stone.
Our task there is to endeavor to influence one another to love and good works.
