Try Chemical Week

chemweek.com

which has an article in the Jan 16 issue with abstract:

A surge in the life sciences last year boosted the $60-billion fine chemicals market, where 5% growth is still largely driven by pharmaceutical and agchem outsourcing. Larger companies with biotech and chiral expertise are vying for lead positions.

There is also an article on outsourcing by pharma companies in the current issue of Chemical & Engineering News. Unfortunately, I can't find an electronic version posted yet. But it says basically the same thing as the Chemical Week article says:--

"Growth in custome chemicals--the business of fine chemicals firms producing chemicals to special order for other companies--has been accelerating during the past year..."

There is a minor mention of ChiRex later in the article.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.
