MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--January 28, 1998--All American Semiconductor, Inc. (The Nasdaq Stock Market: SEMI), a leading national distributor of electronic components, today announced the all locations authorization for semiconductor startup Clear Logic, Inc.

Clear Logic, based in Santa Clara, California, is a fabless manufacturer of Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs). Clear Logic specializes in converting Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) based designs into lower cost ASIC implementations.

According to George Papajohn, Vice President of Marketing for All American, "The addition of Clear Logic to the application specific semiconductor portion of our line card greatly improves our ability to compete in the billion dollar complex FPGA and ASIC market segments. Clear Logic compliments our current offering which includes FPGAs from Atmel as well as ASICs from Atmel, AMI and Samsung."

The Clear Logic CL8000 product family is designed for architectural compatibility with the FLEX(TM) 8000 family of products manufactured by Altera Corporation. The combination of Altera(TM) FPGA tools and Clear Logic LASIC(TM) provides system designers with a fast, flexible lower cost path to a multi-sourced ASIC.

Clear Logic products are compatible with industry standard pinouts and are sold into existing FPGA production sockets as well as for new system designs. The Clear Logic LASIC(TM) technology enables us to provide a hard-wired ASIC from a customer's bit stream file with no NRE and no minimum order quantity. The Clear Logic TestCell(TM) architecture and methodology completely automates test vector generation, therefore, no customer generated vectors are required.

Clear Logic was founded in May 1996, and is privately held. Integrated Device Technology (IDT) is a major investor and serves as a silicon foundry for Clear Logic. Clear Logic has a customer-oriented philosophy somewhat unique in the ASIC world, resulting in a strong focus on eliminating development charges and minimum purchase quantities.

All American Semiconductor, Inc., is the 8th largest distributor of semiconductors in North America and is authorized to sell and support the entire Clear Logic product line throughout its 30 locations in North America.
