Stonehenge, re: There are stocks that I believe I would never sell.

Well, everyone of those stocks you have mentioned, I have bought and sold over the years. I have held on to some of my basic shares of Intel. I have always been on margin and in times past I would take profit for travel abroad. I have forsaken this practice in the last cpl. of years and now try to sell and buy only to off-set my margin expenses. It has worked pretty well until Oct. 97. gg.

But when I look at those stocks now, I do realize that a buy and hold strategy would certainly have been the best way. But then I would had to forego my pleasures. Anyhow, I had bought around 1000 shares of Dell under 10 before it ever split and I have refused to fig. out what that would be worth now. gg. I bought and sold sev. times over the years. Same story with CPQ and of course Intel which I all bought before they ever split and then of course also sold and bought again on the way. I had stocks like Amgen, CCI and you name it. I think just holding Intel, dell, Msft, Cpq and Amgen would have done it. Only some of my Intel and Mrk have survived longer periods of no selling. Sigh.

Reason for this story. Don't worry about those stocks you mentioned if you have a longer time horizon unless you see a fundamental change in those cos.

As the markets keep on rising, these stocks will be hit on occasions.
A little profit taking will not hurt if you have lg. positions, since I know you have big margin also. I am not talking about right this minute of course.
