7/3/2020 Contest update
(Contest YTD is calculated from 1/3/2020 close.)
Among the blessings to celebrate on Independence Day is the stock market’s seeming independence from any negative news.
Meanwhile, some Contest portfolio stocks took an early vacation this week resulting in underperformance by the Contest median. At the week’s close, the Contest median was up 14.89% YTD (vs. up 16.09% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 17.09% YTD (vs. up 14.20% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 21.01% YTD (vs. up 18.43% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 13.16% YTD (vs. up 8.16% YTD a week ago).
FILO’s portfolio, up 137.45% YTD remained Contest leader, while JBOG’s portfolio, up 118.76% and IPOL’s portfolio, up 61.24% YTD, held on to second and third place.
At Friday's close, 31 of the 42 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 19 beating the NBI and 17 beating the SPSIBI.
The 197 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 25.11% and a YTD median gain of 4.57 %.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits & mergers, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a safe & fun Independence Day weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
