to the technically proficient from the technically challenged (me)--would someone kindly clear up gigabit ethernet which is evidently enabled by some fancy new switches that bay networks and 3 com have introudced (and that they think will crater cisco?!) vs. a recent post on this thread of fiber channel news that LSI has its arms around. Specifically, are fiber channel and gigabit ethernet one and the same, and I am mixing apples and oranges? Or are they different doo-dads (technical term) and why will LSI make money on fiber channel if everyone is so jazzed that gigabit ethernet is the next hype of the century? Sorry, but my information source is the always unreliable San Francisco Chronicle and between their reporting and my ignorance, I'm lost in the PR wars. Thanks, Mike Doyle
