I think these guys are dreaming, so they got caught short - too bad. I think you should be able to take delivery, and then hide it, store it , or even dump it in the ocean if you like. What ever happened to the simple concept of owning something? This is a world of paper gone crazy, and if all the games in the derivatives were to be exposed who knows where it would all end up. For that matter, maybe all those mutual funds who play around with the indexes every day should be gone after.
At the end of the day - physical metals may be a very smart move.
Meanwhile we can all try and figure out what game we are really in here? If this is what happens when a few little fingers get burned, the lawyers are going to be busy for years when a real bear stock market hits at some point, and everyone starts crying how they were led down the path. Then we might really see a rush to metals.
