James, I see that you checked with *Stockman* on the Intel thread as to Compaq's revenue. You must think highly of him! Anyway, of course profits are the name of the game, the point I'm trying to make over and over again is that Intel is in a quasi monopoly position and as a result can command higher margins. It is in the interest of customers of Intel to do everything they can to develop alternate sources of supply. That would accelerate CPU price cuts in my opinion. Look at Intel's recent spate of price cuts due to the AMD/Cyrix chips that are out, and these are fairly weak efforts on the part of those companies...

PS - I also see that Stockman compared Compaq to GM in his reply to you. Since you don't seem to look into the numbers on your own, you should compare 5 year charts on Compaq and GM to see how his analysis holds up.....
