The FACT is that Mankind EVOLVES .... what may have been ACCEPTABLE OR COMMON PLACE hundreds of years ago will, very likely, not be acceptable today because Mankind has CONCLUDED THAT SUCH SHOULD NOT BE COMMON PLACE OR THE NORM IN THE WORLD OF TODAY.
A thousand or so years ago a Roman Emperor could point his thumb downwards and a man would be killed. Thousands of the citizens would cheer and accept it.
Hundreds of years ago someone found guilty of being a witch would be burnt at the stake .... no fair trial involved, no jurisprudence. Thousands of the citizens would cheer and accept it.
About 230 years ago, hundreds of individuals in France, male and female, had their heads cut off via the guillotine. No fair trial, no defense lawyers involved, no jury of 12 "just" men and women. Thousands of the citizens would cheer and accept it.
About 170 years ago Africans from West Africa, whose tribe had been defeated by another African tribe, were taken into captivity by the victorious tribe and sold off into Slavery.
