Powerwave Technologies Announces Nortel Orders
IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 28, 1998--Powerwave Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq:PWAV - news) Wednesday announced that it has received orders for $5 million from Nortel (Northern Telecom)(NYSE:NT - news) to supply its ultra-linear multicarrier RF power amplifiers for use in TDMA digital cellular networks.
These orders, which include Powerwave's ultra-linear 40 and 50-watt multicarrier cellular amplifiers and associated combiners, began delivery during the fourth quarter of 1997 and are anticipated to be completed during the first quarter of 1998.

Powerwave also announced that it is in on-going negotiations with Nortel to complete a global supply agreement under which Nortel and its related companies could purchase power amplifiers from Powerwave.
In addition, Powerwave announced that it has begun work with Nortel on development of amplifiers for use in CDMA digital cellular base stations.
