Positive tests (from increased testing thanks to the fed gov response) doesn’t translate into more hospitalizations.
That's true, but hospitalizations are also on the rise.
The virus is running its course & humans are building herd immunity as a result.
There is considerable debate over how close we are to herd immunity. A general rule of thumb is that 70% need to be immune, either through previous infection or vaccine, in order to achieve herd immunity. Without a vaccine, getting to that point is going to result in over a million Americans dead, which is an outcome that none of us should accept as inevitable.
Children do not pass it on to adults.

If you have a compromised immune system take precautions & stay at home.
COVID-19 can also be very deadly to healthy people. Telling those who have "pre-existing conditions" to stay home is pointless, given that most Americans have "pre-existing conditions."
