If you’re having trouble actually asking this question of your primary care physician (maybe dealing with the front office or phone room?), try writing a letter to your doctor and asking your specific question. You might mention your concerns, and the reasons you would like a definite answer to your question.

IMO most primary care physicians have busy, hectic and long days, but they always take time to read a personal note from a patient.
