Pierre, You State: "Digitek are working hard on developing plate material. It is not easy as demonstrated by PRST's problems with the Gold plate material whichI hear is too prone to scratches in the field."

From the Heidelberg DI forum: Posted by James Steiner of Color Graphics on 17 January 1998:

In Reply to: Alternative plates for the DI? posted by Hazmi Yusof on 07 January 1998: We have heard nothing more about the Digitek plate. Current plate material we are receiving from Presstek is superb. Don't think we would switch to another new plate as it seems Presstek has finally got it down right. Plate cost, while it could be a little lower, is not enough of a factor for us to change.

Pierre, it seems that Presstek has developed their new plate material to the satisfaction of the current printers using the D.I.'s. Scratching problems on DI plate material is no longer a factor unless a new D.I. user is not using proper "house cleaning" process with his press.

Suprised to hear that Digitek is still attempting to develop a competing plate.

As far as Pearl Gold....The CTP printers forum had a beta site using the Pearl Gold plate report to the group that the plate material is supurb in all regards and final beta testing was progressing very successfuly. I believe your source providing you negative info is incorrect!

BTW....Due to the high cost expectations from the development of the Catalina Technology for the new plate production line, I would expect about .14 for 4th quarter results, meanwhile, QMDI installs continue with my estimate installs by January end at around 700 worldwide.
