Interestingly, the first point you mentioned is something I have been worried about because I was not sure what the broker would do. Now since both would be in the money in that case, it would be fine if he flattened them both out without me getting involved. I assume that will be the case. If I am wrong please let me know.

The whole idea seemed a bit flaky to me, which is why I asked. You are correct in that I would not attempt it unless (a) I was already deep ITM, and (b) I was convinced that I would not get called (well, with high probability). Finally, if I did get called it would have to be worth it somehow.

I really need to spend some time and learn about options. I had a couple of long term things that gave me over 100% that that has made me want to explore further.
