And of course, the Democrats just bit their tongues and averted their eyes when all of this was going on. Right. Not to mention the fiscal stimulus combined with monetary constraint, along with the integrated circuit, are responsible for today's booming economy. The declining deficit helped along by Bush's bipartisan agreement. Iran-contra, misguided actions prompted by patriotic motives which resulted in PROSECUTION and time served for crimes committed.
Starr's frustrated in Whitewater because witnesses who earlier agreed to testify suddenly recant and another would rather serve time for contempt rather than testify. This is not good for the country, but Clinton brought it on himself, in spite of Hillary's allegations of conspiracy to the contrary. His speech last night indicates that he is an unreconstructed advocate of big government, arrogantly assuming his impugned judgment is superior to mine as regards the best way to spend my money. Throwing 100,000 this and 5,000 that at a problem does not give me confidence that his "programs" are anything more than political grandstanding. But he is anxious to spend the budget surpluses beginning to accrue from the policies of the previous administrations.
He's done some things right, and is certainly very intelligent, but he is very much a moral relativist. Apparently, in his mind, "sexual relations" does not include fellatio. One episode could be lapsed judgment. Certainly, the more I learn about Monica, the more she seems manipulative in her own way. However, his history indicates a predator who abuses his power for more than sexual gratification. He's a high stakes gambler who plays the odds well and constantly hedges. Now he has lost a bet (alleged suborning of perjury with the subornee confessing on tape). Thank goodness his bet involves his personal standing and not a domestic or foreign policy crucial to the welfare of the U.S. and the world.
