I did catch the blurb, but I'll cut it up into small pieces for easier digestion. Nice find, John. If MPEG2 digital video cameras can be sold for a reasonable price, watch out!! And think of the synergistic effect this will have on DVD and DVD-RAM........

Here's the blurb in little pieces:

1. The company [CUBE] also expects to sell a version [of a consumer DVx codec] to peripheral makers pushing non-linear editing boards and software. Companies such as Truevision and Pinnacle
Systems Inc. [PNCL] are likely targets. The product could appeal to multimedia developers and prosumers looking for inexpensive MPEG-2 encoding.

2. And DVx could gain even more support from vendors targeting those buyers when the company releases a DVC to MPEG-2 transcoder in the second half of the year.

3. Adaptec Inc. [ADPT] is co-developing the transcoder, which will allow digital camcorder users to put their creations onto the PC. (C-Cube, 408/490-8000.)

I wonder if CUBE is co-developing other chips with other companies? There are lots of market niches waiting to be filled.....
