Countries across Europe are re-imposing stricter social distancing measures, including curfews and quarantines, after a rise in cases.

The daily number of coronavirus cases has ticked up in many countries, including Spain, Belgium, and France.

The World Health Organisation chief said the pandemic 'continues to accelerate' globally and said that global cases had roughly doubled in the last six weeks.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the continent appears to be at the start of a second wave.

The UK has reimposed a coronavirus quarantine on arrivals from Spain. Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.
