Unfortunately, we're not making any of this up.
Here's the headline in the Daily Beast: "Trump Doubles Down on Demon Sperm Doc." And it's almost enough to make one nostalgic for the simpler times when we just talked about bleach enemas and getting UV rays inside the body.
The President of the United States doubled down on his support of a doctors “summit” peddling the debunked COVID-19 drug hydroxychloroquine—just as social media companies crack down on the viral coronavirus disinformation that came out of the event.
The president was especially enthusiastic about Dr. Stella Immanuel, "who claimed that the controversial anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine was a “cure” for COVID-19 and that masks aren’t necessary." She has some bizarre ideas about alien DNA and demon sex.
She has often claimed that gynecological problems like cysts and endometriosis are in fact caused by people having sex in their dreams with demons and witches.
She alleges alien DNA is currently used in medical treatments, and that scientists are cooking up a vaccine to prevent people from being religious. And, despite appearing in Washington, D.C. to lobby Congress on Monday, she has said that the government is run in part not by humans but by “reptilians” and other aliens.
Lest you think this description of Dr. Immanuel's work is unfair, she publicly thanked the Beast yesterday. "“The Daily Beast did a great job summarizing our deliverance ministry and exposing incubus and succubus. Thank you daily beast. If you need deliverance from these spirits. Contact us,” she tweeted.
On Tuesday, Trump called her "very impressive."
So here we are, in the midst of a pandemic that has cost 150,000 American lives and the President has decided to take a detour into the seedier precincts of CRAZY TOWN. And millions of Americans might take it seriously. This is called a Doom Loop. And it is coming from the president of the United States.
An aside: if you met someone randomly who was peddling these kinds of crackpot notions, you would (1) try to talk sense into them, (2) avoid them, and (3) make sure that they didn't get near your kids.
You would not (1) hire them as principal of your child's school, (2) make them CEO of an important business, (3) let them perform surgery on you or (4) give them four more years as president of the United States.

BTW: Immanuel's viral speech was part of a so-called "White Coat Summit," of doctors who dispute the medical consensus about handling the pandemic. The event was, reports the Daily Beast, "organized by the right-wing group Tea Party Patriots, which is backed by wealthy Republican donors." (We are so fuqqed.)
