Lam Posts Higher 2Q Sales, Profit Despite Pandemic

Lam Research Corp. (LRCX) posted a higher second-quarter profit and stronger sales even as the Covid-19 pandemic hampered economies around the world during the period.
The chipmaker on Wednesday said it generated $696.7 million in earnings, or $4.73 a share, up from $541.8 million, or $3.51 a share, last year. Adjusted earnings per share were $4.78, the company said.
Revenue rose to $2.79 billion from $2.5 billion.
Analysts polled by FactSet predicted adjusted earnings of $4.06 a share on $2.68 billion in revenue.
"Lam delivered strong financial results in the June quarter despite tremendous global health, macroeconomic, and geopolitical uncertainty," Chief Executive Tim Archer said in a statement.
