The RATE of GDP drop was 32%, but the actual drop was, if I recall correctly, about 9% for the latest quarter. Still, it's really bad. The airlines were supposed to get money for not laying off employees, but most, if not all of them receiving this money, are laying off employees or encouraging them to retire.

I think there are better ways of keeping the economy alive; namely paying monthly amounts to low income workers, irrespective of employment status, but limited by their total household income. This is much easier to administer and ultimately less costly. What do we get for allowing an airline executive to continue receiving a salary in excess of $1 million?
