The airlines were supposed to get money for not laying off employees, but most, if not all of them receiving this money, are laying off employees or encouraging them to retire.
That's NOT the way I remember it.
Some of it gifts, some of it loans so that people would have
jobs until October, at the time layoffs would commence. It
looked like it would work as the states and the economy
started to come back Message 32861506 but then the virus
came back with a vengeance and ruined the airline's chances
of returning to normal from the current 25% of traffic. Thus,
they will have to go ahead with layoffs if they don't get more
money. Rather than just laying people off, they are trying to
use better means like retiring people, etc.
