Fauci just testified about HCQ. I've wondered what his rationale is for his handling of the HCQ issue.

It turns out it boils down to one thing:

"Randomized, Placebo-controlled trials are the gold standard, and when I see that showing efficacy I will view things differently." Peer review seemed to be unimportant to him, but "placebo controlled" is essential in his view.

You believe this and I've a large, beautiful bridge across the Hudson to sell you.

"Placebo controlled" trials are supposed to be cancelled for ethical reasons when it's clear those receiving placebo are doing worse than those receiving test drug.

For those same ethical reasons if a drug successfully treats a condition, as seen by empirical observation, then it is necessary NOT to impose suffering on placebo treatment receiving subjects.

Fauci and his ilk have always been full of ethical shit.
