Re:... A GS, MS, Leh type upgrade and a consolidation with the group. I still say that if the stocks are as cheap as we all think, this must happen.

Does anyone have the details of the MSDW Year-End Recommendation? They had a $68 target price for AMAT by YE yet no upgrades have been forthcoming. What is the deal with the discrepancy? If they think the stock will be $68 in Dec., then surely we should be higher
than $32 at the end of January, no?

Tom, I just got MSDW's year-end market watch industry focus with its analysts' top picks. AMAT rated strong buy with a target of 68. Of the several dozen stocks they like, I didn't see any with a larger percentage increase from the current stock price to the target. FWIW, AMAT CEO Morgan has been making fairly bullish comments lately. It appears to me that he doesn't think the Asian "crisis" will hurt AMAT much. Plus, any company that has Bob Dylan, The Wallflowers and Stevie Wonder performing at their parties seems pretty cool to me. <g>
