donsurber.blogspot.com Highlights of the News

Donald John Trump is still our president.

ITEM 1: We are the counter culture.

Keep up the good work, liberals. Conservatives are growing in number.

ITEM 2: The Daily Express reported, "Donald Trump in US election polls surge as voters trust him to revive covid 19 hit economy."

The story said, "The third in a series of monthly Democracy Institute/ Sunday Express polls has given President Trump a surprise lead over his Democrat rival of 48% to 46%, his clearest lead yet.

"Crucially, President Trump has a lead of 48% to 43% in the swing states Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin which would put him back in the White House with an electoral college tally of 309 to Biden’s 229."

By wrecking the economy over covid 19, Democrats showed voters they will seize power by whatever means necessary. That still shocks enough Americans to thwart Democrats.

Breitbart News also reported, "Overall, this poll has Trump nationally at 48% to Biden’s 46% with six percent undecided. Among white voters, Trump leads 53% to 46%. Trump is surprisingly strong with black voters at 20% in this poll — he got about eight percent of the black vote in 2016 — while this survey has Biden at 77%. Hispanic voters in this poll break for Biden 51% to 38%, which would also represent an increase for the president over his 2016 performance with Hispanics."

Obama's inability to hold onto the black vote for Democrats is his true legacy as a worse-than-Carter failure.

ITEM 3: Fox News reported, "Secretary of State Mike Pompeo supported President Trump's proposed ban of social media phenomenon TikTok, explaining to Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures just how use of the app exposes Americans to having their personal information sent straight to the [Red] Chinese government.

"Trump's call for a ban came amid concerns over the national security risk posed by the app's collection of personal data, as Microsoft has been in talks to acquire the platform's U.S. operations."

Pompeo said, "These [Red] Chinese software companies doing business in the United States are feeding data directly to the Chinese Communist Party, their national security apparatus. Could be [users'] facial recognition pattern, it could be information about their residence, their phone numbers, their friends, who they’re connected to. Those are the issues that President Trump’s made clear we’re going to take care of. These are true national security issues."

All apps trade way too much privacy for the service provided.

Privacy is the primary civil rights battle in America, not gay marriage or men using the powder room. Neither Red China nor McDonald's need that much data.

ITEM 4: The New York Post reported, "There have been more shootings so far this year in New York City than in all of 2019.

"A 24-year-old man who walked bleeding into Lincoln Hospital in The Bronx on Saturday night has pushed the city’s total number of shootings this year to 777 — topping the 776 recorded in all of last year, NYPD data compiled by The Post reveals.

"And it’s only the first days of August, with five more months before the year is over."

Democrats want crime.

It is that simple.

If they did not want crime, they would crack down on criminals instead of cracking down on the police.

ITEM 5: PJ Media reported, "The Slaughter of the Innocents in Chicago Continues With 9-Year Old Murdered."

Shootings are up 150%. Murders are up 51%. The annual summer shooting season continues unabated despite covid 19, but don't worry. The Columbus statue is gone.

Democrats have their priorities.

ITEM 6: The Star-Tribune reported, "At least 275 people have been victims of gunfire in Minneapolis so far this year, eclipsing the entire annual totals of all but two of the past 10 years, according to Police Department records.

"Gun violence tends to spike in the city every year during the hot summer months, but this year’s surge in shootings dating back to the unrest after the death of George Floyd is worse than usual.

"MPD records show that 269 people were shot in Minneapolis in all of 2019 — a grim milestone that the city reached on July 20 this year. The shooting tally is also nearly 60% higher than the five-year average for this time of the year, records show.

The city’s 37 homicides have also nearly doubled from this time last year."

Democrats want this.

Liberal newspapers approve.

I have no use for either.

ITEM 7: NOLA reported, "A 9-year-old boy gunned down in front of his family in Treme. A 34-year-old man shot and killed in a dispute over a car title. Three men shot, one of them fatally, on a sunny afternoon in St. Roch.

"The events of the past month illustrate a disturbing phenomenon: Killings and shootings have risen steeply since the corona virus hit New Orleans, mirroring a national trend that has further rattled communities reeling from the pandemic and its economic fallout.

"Non-fatal shootings and gun homicides were already up before the pandemic, but the increase accelerated since then. The rate of gun homicides since New Orleans began allowing more economic activity to resume on May 16 is up more than 50% compared to where things stood in the months before the covid 19 outbreak, and non-fatal shootings are up 48%, according to an analysis of 911 call data."

This is no mystery.

The Black Lives Matter riots hit in June, spreading disease and violence.

ITEM 8: Enough about Democrat death and destruction.

United Press International reported, "Two NASA astronauts splashed down in the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday afternoon, completing a two-month mission that sent them to the International Space Station to test SpaceX's groundbreaking Crew Dragon shuttle capsule.

"Astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken landed gently in the Endeavour capsule off Pensacola, Florida, at 2:48 p.m. EDT, assisted by two sets of parachutes that slowed the descent. A crew from the SpaceX Go Navigator hoist the capsule onto the vessel."

The sea landing was a throwback to Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo. For a few moments I was a kid again.

ITEM 9: Just the News reported, "A politically-charged documentary about an unheralded voting bloc is drawing raves on two of the web's biggest film sites.

"Uncle Tom: An Oral History of the American Black Conservative lets its subjects share why they favor smaller government — and the ridicule they endure for that position.

"The film profiles famous black Americans like Candace Owens, Lt. Col. Allen West and the recently deceased Herman Cain. Uncle Tom also gives everyday black citizens a voice, sharing both their admiration for the country and the slurs hurled at them from the progressive side of the aisle.

"Produced and co-written by conservative talk show host Larry Elder and directed by Justin Malone, the project, may elevate right-leaning voices, but it's critical of the Republican Party for doing too little to connect with this demographic."

That last line is important.

Long before Democrats took black voters for granted, Republicans gave up on them.

President Trump reached out. President Trump delivered prison reform. We shall see on November 3 how this plays out.

ITEM 10: Just the News reported, "Liberal billionaire George Soros has contributed $116,000 to a political action committee supporting St. Louis prosecutor Kimberly Gardner, whose pursuit of Missouri's former GOP governor and a couple who displayed their guns during Black Lives Matters protest have stirred national controversy and legal repercussions.

"A Missouri Ethics Commission filing on Saturday showed the Soros donation to the Missouri Justice and Public Safety PAC formed to support Gardner, and indicated the liberal philanthropist was the sole donor to the group so far."

Soros believes American justice is for sale.

Let us disabuse him of this rotten belief.

ITEM 11: The Post Millennial reported, "Amazon owner and CEO Jeff Bezos, who participated this past Wednesday in a House subcommittee hearing, dropped a bomb when questioned by Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz about the company's use of the Southern Poverty Law Center's services.

"Bezos said that he is looking at alternative options to the SPLC, and agreed with Gaetz’s harsh criticism of the far-left radical organization. He said he would 'like a better source if he can get it.' Bezos added that he 'would like suggestions on better or additional sources.'"

How about using no one?

How about not censoring anything but child porn?

How about allowing 328 million other Americans to use the same rights journalists have?

ITEM 12: The Associated Press reported, "Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is perhaps the most forthcoming member of the Supreme Court when it comes to telling the public about her many health issues. But she waited more than four months to reveal that her cancer had returned and that she was undergoing chemotherapy.

"One big difference from her past battles with cancer is that Ginsburg and the rest of the court have been out of the public eye since early March because of the corona virus pandemic. That’s when they decided to close the building except for official business, then later postponed arguments and agreed to meet by telephone.

"In some ways, the court was more accessible to the public than ever with its decision to provide live audio of telephone arguments in May. But the inability to see the justices and, after arguments concluded on May 13, hear them, made what went on in the late spring and early summer even harder to read than usual."

Ginsburg is a communist which makes her a liar.

On the other hand, she is entitled to privacy regarding her health.

ITEM 13: Austin Bay reported, "Japan has ordered another 105 F-35 stealth fighters. This will cost $23 billion and include spare parts, including 110 engines and additional electronic and other accessories. With earlier purchases this new order will give Japan 147 F-35s. That large force of stealth fighters won’t be in service until the mid-2020s because of growing demand for F-35s and limited production capability. Japan will help by manufacturing some components and assembling their F-35s in Japan.

"All this Japanese F-35 news was not welcome in China. Combined with South Korea's F-35s, China now has to deal with over 300 F-35’s operating near its northern borders. In the 1990s Chinese support for an aggressive and unpredictable North Korea prompted South Korea to become a major developer, manufacturer and exporter of modern weapons. Now Japan, with a larger population and industrial base than South Korea has followed South Korea in an arms race with China."

This proves two things.

1. Red China's neighbors don't trust Red China.

2. After Bush-Clinton-Bush-Obama, Red China's neighbors don't trust the USA to defend them.

I agree.

ITEM 14: Just the News reported, "Washington, D.C. attendees to the Atlanta funeral of the late Rep. John Lewis are exempt from following the District of Columbia's strict quarantine rules after returning home from Georgia, the D.C. mayor's office says."

Which shows the quarantine rules are bullshit.

ITEM 15: Being woke does not seem to be a good game plan.

On the other hand, both sports are pretty lame until the playoffs hit.

Still, with nothing better to do and not much else on TV, one would think the audiences would be record in size, you know like Tucker Carlson is enjoying.

ITEM 16: The Associated Press reported, "Omar, seeking 2nd term, is targeted for her celebrity."

That is surprising given that there are so many other reasons to target her such as her money laundering and fake marriage to her brother to dodge immigration laws.

The woke media has become the joke media.

ITEM 17: Now for a story the media won't cover.

Given his track record of corruption, it is difficult to feel sorry for him as a politician.

But as a person, I pray for him as he heads down a dark journey.

ITEM 18: Just the News reported, "A Trump-supporting Portland woman publicly outed her own grandson as the individual seen throwing a makeshift incendiary device at a federal courthouse during a recent night of tumultuous protests in the Oregon city.

"Karla Fox claimed to the New York Post this week that she recognized her grandson, Gabriel Agard-Berryhill, depicted in a video throwing an explosive device at the Mark O. Hatfield Courthouse in Portland. Fox said she identified him by the consumer-grade ballistic vest she bought him after he had been struck by rubber bullets at another Portland-area protest."

Thanksgiving will be awkward without a pajama boy to lecture her on Obamacare this year. Sigh.

FINALLY, we are off to a good start in August.
