Alliance Gaming Announces First Customer for Progressive Jackpot System
Business Wire - January 28, 1998 17:01
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 28, 1998--Alliance Gaming Corp. (NASDAQ:ALLY) Wednesday announced that Hilton Gaming has entered into an agreement with Alliance's Bally Gaming and Systems business unit to become its first customer for the "Thrillions" progressive jackpot system. The agreement calls for initial implementation of "Thrillions" as an intra-property system within Hilton's Nevada casino properties. This first product in the "Thrillions" line will be introduced under the brand name "PAYDAY!" "Hilton Gaming looks forward to taking part in the introduction of this new product," stated Charles Lombardo, Senior Vice President of Slot Operations for Bally's Las Vegas. "We believe our casino patrons will enjoy 'Thrillions' features." The first gaming machines are planned to be installed at Hilton's Bally Casino in Las Vegas, as part of the Nevada field trial for this new progressive system. This first agreement ultimately calls for up to 200 gaming machines being deployed. "We are pleased to have this opportunity to roll out the first phase of our 'Thrillions' product line," commented Morris Goldstein, CEO of Alliance Gaming. "This live evaluation will demonstrate the features and capabilities that will grow into the 'Thrillions' progressive system as more casinos come on-line." Marketed under the "Thrillions" brand, each casino operator will be able to add its own product brand name to enhance the relationship between the operator and its casino patrons. Several new concepts in progressive jackpot systems will be available with the "Thrillions" product line, e.g., each gaming machine can handle multiple progressive meters enabling casino patrons a chance at winning wide-area, intra-property and single casino jackpots with a single play. The "Thrillions" system will also enable slot machines with different betting denominations to compete for the same jackpots at varying odds of success. The "Thrillions" system is now undergoing "live" tests within the company linking several locations and is scheduled to be submitted to the Nevada Gaming Control Board during March. "Thrillions" and "PAYDAY!" are trademarks of Alliance Gaming or its subsidiaries, pending U.S. registration. Alliance Gaming is a diversified gaming company with headquarters in Las Vegas. The Company is engaged primarily in the design, manufacture and distribution of advanced gaming devices and systems worldwide and is the nation's largest gaming machine route operator and operates two regional casinos.
