Ok...according to S0, the "lightning" was an "Earth discharge event". High voltage cable on site became a conduit for an electrical exchange between sky and ground...without the need for a visible bolt of lightning to the cable. None-the-less a supercharged exchange. Easily attributable to the magnetosphere situation.

And a reminder that right now it's all about the weakening magnetosphere.
