The office of the district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance Jr., made the disclosure in a new federal court filing arguing Mr. Trump should have to comply with its subpoena seeking eight years of his personal and corporate tax returns.
Mark my words. If they ever obtain the tax returns, they'll get leaked and the DA's office will deny any responsibility. Then the investigation will quietly come to a close.

That will pave the way toward future fishing expeditions where the government gets to throw mud at anyone that they feel like.
