I'll be looking for another doggie within 6-8 months.. I do want a dog that is not too large for traveling which I do a lot of to the boonies etc.. (truck so lots of room and no not in tonneau :) was actually considering a pair but two mid sized are still easier than on very large in my experience.. has to be a dog that is OK in the snow and water..

Our heelers (second was sister and litter mate to our first and we got her as a rescue) were both great swimmers and loved the snow.. The poodle which I spent as lot of time with in my late teens (was essentially my doggie in that regard by then) would go up to the Laurentians with me .. spent a lot of time retrieving from the lake along with then girlfriend's lab.. and other bigger doggies.. Ralph (a she LOL) held her own very well in the water especially.. and also loved the snow.. was a problem withe the ice balls on the feet with that curly fur which |I had to regularly address on longer walks.. but a great dog :)

Blackie

edit my heelers were fine with people but not so much with other doggies..
