Mike:

I'm new to SI and recently discovered your thread. Having an interest in small-scale gold and PGM refining, your postings and generous responses to questions, technical and other are appreciated.

Would you comment on whether localized volcanic cinder and tuff deposits found in and around N.E. Arizona and S. Nevada would be classified as a DD with a reported gold and PGM content? Also, if any credible work in the refining of this refractory ore, pilot or commercial, have been reported to date? Head ore sample analyses I've reviewed claim 1-2 opt AU and 3-4 opt and higher for Pt and Pd. With source rock milled and concentrated on site, the economics would appear quite attractive up to this point.

Can you comment privately on the reputation of certain domestic assayers (labs), if known to you, and a reasonable approach for confirming their findings? Yes, I'm conducting a little due diligence.

I've been led to believe that the final merit of initial analyses of complex ores, concentrates or dores must be ultimately judged in retrospect after finish refining and receipt of $$ from the sale of resulting bullion, matte or anode sludge. This always seems to imply a substantial capital expenditure to prove or disprove claims. Is there really relief in sight for the smaller operator? Thanking you in advance for your response ... Irv
