There were multiple competing politicized gangs of thugs in Weimar Germany. The brownshirts were the fascist gang. Antifa were the communist left gang. Same side of the same coin, beating each other up because both wanted absolute power.

If the left had taken over Weimar Germany we would've seen a Stalinist state on the Rhine seeking revolutionary expansion of communism. Not much difference in outcome.
