newbie, I hope you're not seriously in favor of protectionistic trade policies. It has never worked (ever), leads to massive rounds of retaliation and counter retaliation, and untimately severe recession. Some tarriff bill in '29 is largely credited with triggering the Great Depression. Without free trade, international competition is stifled and we are denied access to markets where we excel as well as denied access to goods produced much more cheaply than we could. If Buchanan (sp?) sweeps super Tuesday, you'll see the market loose 20% tommorrow. Of course, I won't care. I'll be emmigrating. Richard
