Gary Cooper Why can't Trump pronounce words like Yosemite? What happened?
He can’t read very well, he doesn’t prepare for his speeches in advance, and he doesn’t know basic geography.
Just this week, he pronounced “Yosemite” as “Yo Semite … Yo Seminite,” and “Thailand” as “Thighland.” He also once referred to the country of “Nambia” (probably meaning Namibia, but maybe Zambia, or Gambia), and referred to the town of Paradise, California as “Pleasure.” And who can forget how surprised Trump was to learn that Puerto Rico “is an island … surrounded by water … big water”?
His sense of Asian place names is especially interesting. Besides “Thighland,” Trump has previously mentioned such countries as “Button,” “Nipple,” and “Shiner” (probably meaning Bhutan, Nepal, and China).
As somebody else observed, we should all hope Trump doesn’t start talking about the countries Niger and Nigeria.
