January 27, 1998 (BEIJING) -- Chinese Vice President Rong Yiren told a visiting Japanese trade delegation in Beijing that China welcomes Japanese and all foreign companies to invest more, particularly in China's high-tech sectors.

During his meeting on Jan. 21 with the 26th delegation of the Japan Association for the Promotion of International Trade, led by its chairman Yoshio Sakurauchi, Rong said the annual China trips by the Japanese association have contributed to increased mutual understanding of the people of the two countries and to the development of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Rong praised Sakurauchi for the great efforts he had made over years in promoting the economic and trade ties between China and Japan.

Rong briefed the visitors on China's efforts to gradually promote the reforms of the state-owned enterprises, improve the social insurance system and to deepen the reform of the financial system.
