Aware Story in Interactive Week I don't know how important (or unimportant, seems like a lot of needless name-dropping) this story is. But I copied it verbatim from the pages of Interactive Week (pg 66 Hyperspace column). Whole thing seems wierd, because it was common knowledge (it was pre-announced back in late November) within this SI thread that the PC trio was backing the Aware Splitterless solution and were going to make a publicized announcement in early February. <<Aware Inc. and its extroverted chairman Jim Bender, are being held responsible by many for leaking information about the Microsoft-Intel-Compaq ADSL consortium to "The New York Times", a week ahead of the planned announcement. But Bell Atlantic Corp. officials have a different take. According to one official there, the leak was a Microsoft Corp ploy intended to apply pressure to Bell Atlantic to get in the fold quickly before the group went public. Thus, the story in the Times singled out Bell Atlantic as the only holdout, even though the company had already signed on to the consortium's goals. >>
