Woody, you have it down pretty solid within your own ken.
I include hail with lightning as an additional signpost.
And, I suppose that since it's the cooler air in a tornadic system at the core of the updraft (rather than the previously thought convection of warmer air), that makes tornadoes more like "slow motion ground to cloud lightning". Tornadoes will be increasing in number and strength if, as is likely, that is the case.

And...humidity does indeed decrease during GSMs. The air becomes much drier. The atmosphere is less able to hold moisture. One reason for that is that it's cooling.

Six months ago I was thinking we had three years or less of grid left. It's starting to look like I may have been 6 months too optimistic.
